It used to happen to me but now I keep my computer clean with a registry cleaner. I run regular checks to prevent my fist gonig through my screen! I used to get so angry at my computer I would have to just walk away in case I did something stupid!
There are all sorts viruses and corrupted files getting around the net that you really need to be careful. It is wise to run weekly checks if not daily depending on the amount of use.
For the sake of 30-$40 it really is a cheap reassurance!
